School personnel are essential allies in managing type 1 childhood diabetes; however, it is not apparent what their knowledge is concerning managing and treating this chronic disease. Therefore, this study aims to assess teachers' knowledge and training needs on the management and treatment of a child with diabetes in elementary school. A cross-sectional study was conducted by administering a specially created questionnaire to teachers in three Piedmontese schools. The results supported the need for a school nurse with a health and educational support role toward school staff.
