Abstract

Heart failure (HF) is a syndrome characterized by cardiac dysfunction, with a significant impact on longevity and quality of life. To date, there are no studies in Italy whether patients with heart failure admitted to a specialized cardiology inpatient unit have perceptions of improved quality of life. Therefore, this study aims to make a comparison of the quality of life of HF patient at admission and later at discharge. A prospective observational study was performed, with administration of the EQ-5D-5L questionnaire and the VAS QoL scale to recruited patients. The results make it clear that the health care and treatment received at a specialized inpatient unit such as cardiology has a positive impact in terms of perceived quality of life.
