Indexing

INDEXING

Indexing is a fundamental feature for a journal as it reflects its ability to disseminate the articles published nationally and internationally, increasing their visibility (and, consequently, the possibility of citation). In order to be indexed, journals must reflect specific characteristics (variable, depending on the reference database) and maintain some specific quality standards.
The indexing process takes time.
All databases require a certain publication period (and/or a certain number of issues published) to start the indexing process, in which the characteristics of the journal will be evaluated; the period preceding the request for indexation can exceed two years.
It is, therefore, clear that Journals born less than two years ago will hardly be indexed even if they possess all the required characteristics; articles published during this time, however, may be indexed later once indexing is achieved.
